The versatile Davide Balula is both musician and plastic artist, with an unusually wide range of inte-rests. His work involves visual, sonic, electronic and plastic devices, taking perceptional a priori to a quasi-fictional level. His approach marks a cross-over between art and science, where sound, rhythm and movement (three key aspects of his approach) merge to yield a technologico-organic end-product. His distortion and suspension of time, and testing of antagonistic materiality, place us at the heart of an experiment challenging our relationship with reality.

Balula is a composer; a musician in various groups and collectives; and the founder of L’Appareil – an open platform for producing artistic projects. His first major solo show (Le Lac, Le Mensonge) took place in 2008, at Le Confort Moderne in Poitiers… the fruit of a variety of projects over the previous four years, revealing his ability distort time, alter our perceptions, and muddy our points of reference between reality and simulation.
